About us

Five musicians came together to form an MC5 tribute band out of a shared love for the raw energy and revolutionary spirit that defined the Detroit legends. For them, the MC5 represented more than just music—it was a call to arms, a cultural force that demanded to be heard. Inspired by the band’s incendiary live performances and fearless commitment to social change, they sought to channel that same intensity and power, reigniting the spirit of "Kick Out the Jams" for a new generation. Through their tribute, they honor the MC5’s legacy while keeping its ferocious energy alive in today’s music scene.

The MC5 embodied raw passion and unrelenting ferocity, a sonic revolution unleashed with every note they played. Their music was a volatile cocktail of unbridled energy, political defiance, and primal rock 'n' roll spirit, amplified by a relentless rhythm section composed of drummer Dennis Thompson and bassist Michael Davis, along with Wayne Kramer and Fred "Sonic" Smith’s electrifying twin-guitar assault. At the heart of it all, Rob Tyner's soulful, growling vocals delivered messages of liberation and rebellion, rallying against the establishment with unyielding conviction. Their live performances were legendary—explosive spectacles that blurred the line between music and movement, where chaos and community intertwined. Fueled by the turmoil of the 1960s, the MC5 weren't just a band; they were a battle cry, a cultural force that demanded freedom, change, and the visceral thrill of pure rock fury.
